How I’m Making a Factory Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner. The first thing I did was take off the extra two bbl air cleaner snorkel, by cutting the metal around it. ( Then, using a dremel tool (a hacksaw or other cutting tool. )
This was very rusty but a free part off no good air cleaner off my 77 lemans that I was going to throw out Anyway. Then I used my second spare 4bbl air cleaner very rusty from the last two winters I drove it as the main air cleaner. This will be the one that I turning in to the dual Snorkel cleaner This is the spare air cleaner I use for the winters and storage on the truck

This one off a 84 SS Mont. Make sure you leave the one that you have on your Truck now alone, just in case something goes wrong. This way you still have one to use. The second snorkel, thermal valve. Leave the thermal setup on spare snorkel for now. For the cleaner dual snorkel set up. The main snorkel thermal valve. Leave the thermal setup on the Passengers side of the cleaners to hook up the factory set up Vacuum hoses. When you cut it off, cut from the top lip of the cleaner all the way to the bottom on both sides of the snorkel. It is important to leave roughly 1" of material around, where the snorkel attaches to the air box. This extra 1" is needed so you can eventually drill out 4 holes into it for factory spot welds that will hold the second snorkel to the air box. Then can but weld the plate in. (or pop rivet it if your not able to weld)

This is the bottom Well time to start to take it apart by bending back the side lip. To get the thermal valve flapper out. Oh have to take out the thermal too. after the side is opened to the back edge, then it time to do some long hard sand blasting. I started with the top( lid ).

The first pic toke apart the second snorkel and sand blasted. Sitting ready to weld in the main air cleaner, finished sand blasting the rest on the cleaner. I tacked in and spot welded the second snorkel ready for finishing replacement of the thermal valve that was taken out. Then sealer paint. The third pic you can see that the snorkel un-folded on the sides and you will re-fold when ready put back together.
