Well, with the family in town for Christmas, me and my brother finally got the old tranny out of my '82 Custom Deluxe. Before getting it out, I knew it was an old 3 on the tree that had been converted to a floor shifter and I assume it is original to the truck. Since getting it out, I think I've ID'd it as a Saginaw (7 bolt cover, reverse on the case). But the problem is this thing is full of numbers, none of which seem to comply with the typical GM identification pattern. Here is what I have found: Driver-side of cover: GM 41 3952645 - I think it reads AF11LD Passenger-side of cover (stamp is upside down): 463911 GM 50 Driver-side of extension housing: F251 Passenger-side of extension housing: GM 77 326558 None of these seem to show the month/day/year/shift nor do they match my VIN. I'm beginning to wonder if it even came with the truck. Does anyone know what any of these numbers mean? Does anyone know where else I could look on the tranny for more numbers? She's got 27 years of oil, dirt, and grime so I'm steadily uncovering new stuff.

Maybe a few pic's might help off the trans bell-housing side plate.
