There is an O ring around the "bullet" that pushes into the tranny. There is also a lip seal inside the bullet that seals against the plastic drive gear. Either, or both of these are likely to leak.

I also had a leaky turbo 400. it has been a few years since I went into vapor lock because I could not completely locate all of the leaks. I did the speedo o rings and and a several attempts at the pan gasket. I threw out a perfectly good chrome pan, thinking it was the cause. I ended up replacing a seal where the shift rod exits the trans. Wha-La that dried it up real nice. the only bummer is that you have to do this from inside. hopefully its only your speedo seals! An easy, fast, and cheap repair.

;DTIP : Make sure the top Vent is not PLUGED ,there is vent
( tube or cap ) on the top back of the Trans.
If it is pluged it can cause leakes to and will star at the old and weak spots first.

I WILL CHECK THE VENT TUBE.I JUST CHANGED THE FLUID AND FILTER LAST NIGHT.I HAVE A NEW PAN GASKET SO THAT LEAK IS FIXED.I STILL NEED TO FIX THE LEAK AT THE SPEEDO CABLE.DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE FILTER IN A TURBO 400 KIND OF FLOATS.I MEAN THAT THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE FILTER ON CAN ONLY GO SO TIGHT BY THE WAY THE BOLT IS MADE.THE FILTER SEEMED TO SIT LEVEL BUT IT KIND OF MOVES AROUND.THIS IS MY FIRST TURBO 400,SO I'VE GOT SOME THINGS TO LEARN.
