In case you have sagging doors and don't want to replace hinge pins immediately or can't afjunky a$$ f@#d new hinges. You can loosen lower hinge half on the door side and slide a 1/16th. or 1/8th. fender shim between hinge and door shell, depending on how much your door drops when opening it, remember to align door and re-tighten bolts before driving away. I have many little tricks or (hack ideas) of the trade to share. ;D. Just ask away...if I don't have an answer, I will get it for you. .........Larry

That a kool trick but I would not let them go to long if you do not want to buy new hinges unless hinges are shot. Much cheaper to buy bushing & pins. ;D keep them greased. The door stricker bushing should be checked & or replaced. I not trying to step on toes here. keep the trick coming .

Yes, most definately check that striker! But like me, I am between a rock and a hard place, This tip I posted will work til you can get pins and bushings. Sorry bout that. The nylon bushing that is on the striker will really be torn up if it needs pins and busings, so you might as well change striker too. I don't know where to get pins and bushings for my truck, but I do not need them yet. ('78 Big Ten.)

The red help packet in the car parts section most places carry help replace parts ( dorman/help ). One pac get you 4 two wide one & two short one plastic bushing for the door stricker about 2.50 to 5 bucks. The trucks use the short ones. So you have a secone set ready cut & use next time. Oh they sell the pins and busting too. or GM still carry them the last time picked up some 8 month ago.

ADJUSTMENT OF THE CAB DOORS
The holes for the hinges are over sized to give you movement. Align the door hinges first, then the striker Hinges If a door is being installed, first mount the door & tighten the hinge bolts slightly to hold then. If the door has not been removed, determine which hinge bolt must be loosen to match the lines of the body. Loosen the necessary bolts just enough to allow the door to be moved with a padded pry-bar( stick or big screw driver.) move the door in small movement & check the fit after each movement. be sure that there is no binding or interference with the fender, hood, cab. Keep repeating "this" until the door is sitting right & aligned. Tighten down the bolts where it is. You might need to be fabricated or get new from a few places.?Install behind the hinges as an aid in alignment. The striker is attached to pillar using over-sized hole, providing movement striker adjustment is made by loosening the bolts & moving the striker plate undesired direction or or adding or deleting the shims behind the plate or both. The striker is properly adjusted when the locking latch enters the striker with out rubbing & the door closed fully & solidly with no play when closed.
I put this on this post but will remove to your post when you start it (Pontiac1976)
